Any inputs would be very much appreciated. I can input the characters, but cannot display correctly. Can that be solved? I have also problem with qq.. I can view all chinese web pages but I cant send chinese text in qq or see what people write even I tried many different versions of qq.. If anyone can help me I ll be happy.. I need to learn chineseee!!!!!! When I tried to set up my computer following your instruction above, so I can read and write Chinese.
I come across a problem. I found a old PC with Winxpsp2. The configuration there does not help you to change the interface. If you are so sure that you have seen English interface before, maybe you have installed a multi-language pack — which is very rare. If it is the case, look for the configruation in your Start menu, instead of in the control panel. I believe there is some configuration places parallel to where Microsoft Office shortcut in the Start menu.
So that i can use the PC. Thanks again For The Clarification! Regards, Howie. Does anyone know how to make programs like QQ display chinese characters correctly in Windows ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I used to use njstar to input chinese words, both in simplified for Singaporean friends and traditional to Taiwanese. But it hangs my system so i used your method to input chinese. It works fine but how do i use pinyin to input traditional chinese?
And when i send simplified chinese to my Taiwanese friend via email, it came out all nonsense letters. Pls reply via email to me if possible. Thanks for all your help. Anyone know how to solve this? I follow the exact procedure to enable language in Chinese PRC on regional set up, however I still can not read the Chinese in QQ: example , the icon and all characters as??????
I can view simplified sites like baidu. I tried to run intl. I now have a different problem. For example, a printer driver installation program sees that I have Chinese support even though it is an English version of XP Pro SP2 , and starts up with a Chinese interface only.
There is no option to select another language. If I remove Chinese support, that same program will start up with an English interface. How do I keep Chinese language support on my system, but force programs with multiple language interfaces to start with an English interface by default? Is there anyway to sort my chinese files in a folder by hanyu pinyin?
For example for my chinese songs so i can find them easily. I have done all the steps, installed prc selected it and i can type fine everywhere exept in an online game called dekaron. I believed i have installed the window xp sp2 through window update. What can i do? Am I missing anything? I bought a Lenovo with xp professional from TigerDirect last week. I cannot find Chinese language or any other east asian languages in the dropdawn list. How can install the East Asian Language? Please help!
Hope it helps your dad. Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your comment! You rock! Do i need to download the Appl or change key broad to do Chinese Hand Writing? Regarding your question, without a touchscreen, it still is possible to use do the drawing method as I showed in the video?
As you can imagine, that would be a lot more awkward. Another method I have used that is imperfect is to type English into Google Translate, find the Chinese characters I want, and copy and paste. Depending on what you are trying to do, that might be adequate also. If you do a lot of writing of Chinese, however, I would highly recommend getting a laptop with a touchscreen and a stylus.
Most Windows laptops have a touchscreen nowadays. If so, then please open Regional and Language Options:. One more thing before you go! You'll be glad you read the following:. Adjusting the Language Bar and Keyboard Shortcuts. There you can control the Language Bar and the keyboard shortcuts for changing between English and the other language input methods. Some people can't stand the existence of one or the other. For example, some people frequently hit a certain key combination by accident and find themselves typing in another language.
Those folks prefer to use the Language Bar. Others can't stand having the Language Bar in the way and find it too slow, preferring to memorize shortcuts. Personally I turned off all the Keyboard shortcuts, as you can see in the list here, by clicking on "Key Settings" button, and then the "Change Key Sequence" button in the following dialog box Also, if you're working only in text and not using a microphone or any of the speech tools, you can remove those icons from your Taskbar.
The Language goes to the Taskbar at the bottom of your Windows desktop when minimized. Just click on the "Language Settings" button, and in the next dialog box, uncheck "Show additional Language bar icons in the task bar". To switch languges, just left-click and select.
When you need all the language tools and options, just click on that button again and select "Additional icons in the task bar" or "Show the Language bar". That's all there is to it!
