I remember distinctly that the lower the salary, the easier to retire. In fact, that is probably the biggest lesson I learned from the game. I think lower salary means lower passive income to retire. Lower passive income is easier to achieve. Interesting to read. What i like about cash flow game is that it actually helps in learning how to manage finances. Games are a great powerful learning tool.
Its great that this game is now free. Enjoyed studying this, very good stuff, thanks. Shared joys make a friend, not shared sufferings. I have learned new things via your website. Where can I download the cashflow game for PC? Admiring the time and energy you put into your website and detailed information you present.
Fantastic read! I really want to play cashflow game for free. So I tried to search and I found that info in your blog! Wow, this is very nice info. Good job! So each month is a stress-filled month of choosing between NEEDS, or adding a longed-for want ostensibly a higher-level need beyond survival then having to do without — for example, do you go to the dentist, or pay the heat bill?
I would say the board game is far better at learning the concepts and also creating opportunities to discuss things with you other players. I found the online version to be better once you have an idea of how the game works as it allows for quicker replay and less tedious math. I recommend the board game. Brad T. I absolutely love this game. I don't play it as much as I should no one wants to play with me! But I could play that every day.
Thanks Brandon Turner. I hope that my wife and friends will actually play the game with me too! I agree with Brandon Turner and the other folks who posted here: playing the actual board game Cashflow is a worthwhile investment. It allows you to learn by playing and when you make a mistake or goes bankrupt, at least it's not in real life. More than the investment of money to buy the game, to really benefit from it, you need to invest the time.
You or your wife might not like it at first but the more you play it, the better you become at it and the game "flows" and you will learn more. Both are fun and very informative.
Nothing too sophisticated but if you're anything like me when i started, they'll take some getting used to! Thanks David Stanfield I didn't know we could try it free online. I will check that out and then probably buy the board game. Thanks for the help everyone! Hi Brad. Just reiterating what everyone else has been suggesting, but definitely try out the free online version of Cash Flow I play at least once every few weeks, and I still learn something new each time.
I found that I learned the concepts best by playing against myself, then working up to playing against computer players. I agree with others, definitely worth it. Rich Dad Poor Dad was one of the books that changed my life.
The best thing that came out of that besides a big lesson in guru courses was playing Cashflow and getting a copy of the game. I plan to continue investing this way until I can start purchasing some "big deals". They played the game at the introduction as well. They played a shortened version in the intro that was pretty much impossible to understand. I've played it a few times on-line, I have never played the board game at home. Although it teaches concepts it's also kinda hooky.
The scenarios are contrived in such a way that winning the game does not mean you are ready for real-life IMHO. Matt - This is a great point. When I look at the Rich Dad products, I see the ability to get into the right mindset. I bet if you ask most people, "Rich Dad Poor Dad" was one of the books that got them into real estate, but few probably did a deal after reading it.
This game is the same way. It will show you some of the teach you some foundational information such as a personal financial statement and trying to increase passive income to be higher than expenses , but it does not give you the nuts and bolts.
It gives you the mindset. The rich spend the money remaining after they pay their monthly expenses and invest it. Instead of buying doodads and liabilities like a bigger house, faster car, or a more lavish vacation, they have their money work for them. It was actually developed so out-of-touch school administrators could develop cookie-cutter curriculums built upon Industrial Age subjects to make us good-little employees.
But the fact is that not everyone learns that way. Some people can read a textbook once and remember everything they read. Most people, however, learn best by doing the real thing. Likewise, if you want to invest in real estate, you need to understand the difference between investing for capital gains or for cash flow.
But where can you learn to invest without spending money on a collection of books or attending a boring seminar? Your dream is the reason for taking on the challenge of escaping the Rat Race. Next, roll the dice! When you are presented with an opportunity to take advantage of a Small Deal or a Big Deal, remember the goal: you want to acquire passive income that covers your monthly expenses.
Roll 1 or 2 die over your next 3 turns to get more opportunities to create wealth. There are no such things as Small Deals on the Fast Track. Pick and choose how much cash flow you want coming in each month to get you closer to achieving your dream. The game is designed for anyone over the age of 14 to play and is the best online game for families and friends to challenge each other for financial IQ supremacy.
